                                                   EVERY KIDS NEED A CHAMPION

1.I liked whatever she spoke. She shared her personal experiences and thoughts clearly. The way of motivating and developing the self-esteem of the student. I understood that Teaching and learning should bring joy. She explained about the relationships and connections. She motivated the Teachers. I downloaded the video and had seen it many time.

When I saw this video I remembered my teachers who motivated me and helped me to come up in life. There are many teachers crossed my life, But some of the teachers are in my mind and having a touch with them. Still I am sharing my problems with my old teachers. They respected me. They made difference in my life.

2.It is important to have a connection and relationships with students. Who understands the power of connections that they become the best that they can possibly be. All learning is understanding relationships. All learners are successful learners and we have to motivate .

 3. Sentences Inspired Me
  • We can do it ,We are educators, We’re born to make difference.
  •  Kids don't learn from the people who don't like
  •  'I am somebody, I was somebody and I will be better somebody when I leave'
  • A relationship that could never disappear.

4.To Understand the role of a facilitator . Build a relationship with the learners.

Why do learners come to my training centre?

Learners come to my training centre with a lot of expectation.  These learners fall in the category of adult learners. They were already de-motivated from life due to several reasons. They come to the centre with a lot of hope of reforming their life. So, they require information about the skills and knowledge that can provide them job. They want them to be treated as adults not as kids. So, they always seek for opportunities which can make their present condition better. They always want to learn new things.

Every Kid needs a Champion!

This video is really impressive where in Ms. Rita Pierson has articulated her thoughts clearly and was based on her personal experience. It is an inspiring video as it made me see the video again and again.

Every concept and sentence in the video has stayed with me but the most effective one's for me was:
1. Understand the learner and building relationship
2. Kids don't learn from the people who don't like
3. 'I am somebody, I was somebody and I will be better somebody when I leave' This particular sentence inspired me.

Its really an important essence that relationship needs to be built and there must be meaningful and healthy relationship between the students and the facilitator.

An example that caught my attention was the teacher apologized for teaching wrong and the immediate reaction of students. This shows the understanding and relationship between the trainer and students.

This video is apt before beginning this module and it has inspired me to go forward with this module. The purpose of watching this video is to show that a facilitator can change the lives of learners and be a good role model provided there is an understanding and good relationship with the learners.
Every kid needs a champion

Q.1. What you liked in the video?
Ans. I liked in the video the way of facilitation and articulation of the facilitator. It is interesting to see that how a facilitator can be a good and effective teacher and facilitator if he/she has understanding of students and better relationships.

Q.2. What idea stayed with you?
Ans.Value and importance of human connection. It is very important to have a better connection and relationships to students.

Q.3.Specific sentence or examples used in the video that caught your attention.
Ans. People do not like to learn whom they do not like.

Q.4. Why did we want you to watch this video  in the begginig of the module?
Ans. To let us know the role of a facilitator . Teaching and learning brings joy if we have understanding with our students well.

Reflections : Every kid needs a champion!

The video was really nice because the presenter spoke through her personal experiences which one can relate to at the deeper level. It was a very motivating and inspiring video. The ideas that really stuck in my head by the end of the video were,

Relationships in the process of teaching and learning are key. If a trainer can have good relationships with their students half the battle is won. And I agree with it!

Another thing that was really important that she mentioned was that its really important to understand your students before you expect to be understood by them. This, I think as trainers we miss many times. We expect our students to just listen to us and do as we say without really making an attempt to understand them.  It is somewhere an unfair expectation that your learners should understand  you when you don't necessarily understand  them.

It fine to be able to apologize as a trainer , and there is nothing wrong with that!! This part atleast I have been able to follow in my practice too. One another things that stood out was the encouragement bit. How does a teacher keeps her learners motivated and not give up on them? Every student possibly can be someone great in their lives but I guess they just need different amount of attention. Being able to connect with each student individually is really important and building that relationship  with each student is really very important.

''Students don't learn from the person they don't like' was amazing and even if you don't like a learner, being able to stay neutral and unbiased was really very powerful. Through the fist module we have been talking about some of these and I can further relate to it now.

Being the champion for a students to see him/her through and to make him/her feel special, is really important. Relationships with the students whose life you have made a difference to are there to stay forever. I can again relate to this with one of my teacher who I really liked and who instilled the love of a subject in me. I am still in touch with her!

This video was a  great start to the module I feel, since its very inspiring. It sets the tone about what is expected from us as facilitators and how we can really make a difference as facilitators if we understand our job well.

Looking forward to the module henceforth and learning more tricks of trade to be a good facilitator :)

Understanding the needs of a Learner

During this journey of knowing and understanding my learners and their needs, I would like to upload some of my findings about it. I hope and I believe that I will learn more in the days to come.
